Local Capital Solutions for Blended Climate Finance in Southeast Asia
Join this upcoming webinar hosted by Convergence, in partnership with the Catalytic Climate Finance Facility (CC Facility) Learning Hub, on strategies to mobilise domestic capital for climate blended finance in Southeast Asia.
The session will draw on insights from the Learning Hub’s report Domestic Capital Mobilization for Climate Finance in Southeast Asia, with a focus on Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion featuring grantees from Convergence’s Asia Climate Solutions window, who will share practical lessons from deploying local capital solutions.
Mobilising local capital is an essential component of effective and sustainable climate finance. As the global climate finance gap continues to widen, relying solely on international funding sources is no longer sufficient to meet the scale of investment required for climate mitigation and adaptation. In this context, maximising local investment is critical.
Local capital from domestic public budgets, private sector actors, and financial institutions can play a catalytic role in bridging this gap. Increasing local investment towards climate finance can bring distinct advantages, including stronger alignment with local needs, reduced currency risks, and the ability to build a track record for further investment.
This webinar is relevant to CEDCA’s work on financing inclusive clean energy transitions and strengthening locally grounded approaches to climate and energy investment.
