GENERIS at National Workshop on Distributed Generation
15 September 2025
The GENERIS project recently supported Bolivia’s first National Workshop on Distributed Generation, in collaboration with the Vice Minister of Electricity and Fernando Vargas from Generis Bolivia.
The event brought together stakeholders from GIZ, the French Development Agency, IDB, the World Bank, and local universities, and focused on the presentation of AETN Resolution No. 379/2024, which introduces regulations for registering and integrating distributed generation into the national grid.
Participants discussed barriers and solutions to accelerate decentralized electricity generation, with key topics including digitalizing the registry and implementing net metering.
The workshop also featured a LEAP model study of Bolivia’s energy system, focusing on the potential of solar photovoltaic generation. The findings highlighted the environmental and economic benefits of distributed energy, especially in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening local energy resilience. This initiative marks a significant step in Bolivia’s renewable energy transition.
